What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese term. "Rei" means something mysterious, miraculous and sacred. "Ki" means the atmosphere, something unseen or the energy of the universe. Reiki can be defined as a miraculous and sacred energy of the universe, which sustains all life. The essence of Reiki is love, an all embracing divine vibration that helps to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body.
During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner places his or her hands on or near the person receiving treatment, channeling life force energy, ("Ki") into the patient by means of touch. You relax, fully clothed on a massage table concentrating on your breath. A treatment can last up to an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. Reiki energy flows to wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached, causing the negative energy and imbalances to break apart and fall away. When the flow of the "Life Force Energy" is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or health problems tend to occur. Imbalances can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives, such as: emotional or physical trauma, injury, negative thoughts and feelings, including fear, worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, negative self-talk, toxicity, nutritional depletion, destructive lifestyle and relationships, neglect of self and lack of love for oneself or others, from emotions that are not expressed in a healthy way. Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
