Liesl van Jaarsveldt
REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPIST since 2015 - MTAA
MH VICARS SCHOOL OF MASSAGE THERAPY
I absolutely love my chosen career as a Registered Massage Therapist. In 2006 we immigrated to Canada from warm and beautiful South Africa where I grew up and where I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy in 1996. I achieved my diploma with honours from the 2200-hour program at MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Edmonton in 2015. Soon after, I started working at the Active Life Centre and completed Kip’s course in Advanced Sport Massage.
I am an avid reader and active outdoors enthusiast who believes that movement is healing. Upon arriving in Canada in the winter I learned to downhill and cross-country ski and recently learned to skate. Daily activity is important to me and some of my favourite activities are dance, yoga, HIIT and jogging with my pup. Since childhood I have been sensitive and intuitive and have always wanted to help people and animals. Thus, a career in therapy! Tapping into the complex nervous system through manual therapy is my passion!
In recent years I have completed certifications in Myofascial Cupping Technique, Rapid Neuro-Fascial Reset, Advanced Orthopedic Massage, Kinetic Massage as well as advanced techniques for the back, neck and shoulder. I am a proud member of the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA).
I am passionate about my job or ‘my calling’ as I like to think of it and I enjoy working in a clinic setting with diverse conditions alongside inspiring colleagues.
Outside of work I am a homebody, a bookworm, a music lover, an art enthusiast and painter and I enjoy cooking and baking up a storm. I adore animals and I am dog mom to ‘Rupert the Labradoodle’.
