REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPIST since 2015 - MTAA
MH VICARS SCHOOL OF MASSAGE THERAPY
I love helping patients in the clinic feel, and move, better with massage and related manual therapies. I have been doing Massage Therapy at the Active Life Centre since 2015 after completing my diploma from the MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Edmonton. My journey towards becoming a Massage Therapist started more than 30 years ago when I studied Physiotherapy and worked in South Africa as a Respiratory Therapist and Physiotherapist until we immigrated to Canada in 2006.
Outside of work, I am dog mom to Rupert the Labradoodle who makes every day a joy. We love to be outside exploring the trails, searching for baseballs and playing catch and tug.
My hobbies include jazz dance, practicing Pilates and yoga, doing art, and reading and learning as much as I can. Being outdoors is a passion of mine - cycling, hiking, swimming and skiing are some activities I like to do depending on the season. I enjoy making a mess in the kitchen by baking and cooking comfort food for my family.
In the almost 8 years of working here I have continued to learn and obtained certifications in: Advanced Sport Massage; Orthopedic Massage/Target Muscle Release; Kinetic Massage for the Shoulder, Hip and Neck; Blueprint for the Neck, Low Back, Hips and Shoulders through the Tissue Talk Academy; Myofascial Cupping Technique and Rapid Neurofascial Reset for Upper and Lower Body.
In the future I plan on taking the Rapid Core Certification and Kinesio-Taping to add to my skillset.
Being and becoming a Massage Therapist has been a most rewarding journey.
I look forward to meeting you and thank you for choosing me to provide your service.
